Oregon in October

I too was thinking about being in Portland in Oct. The last time for me was when she had her colon surgery> I walked around the hospital many times picking up the beautiful fallen leaves and collecting them. After she got home from the hospital and was able we walked along the Clackamas river with Carmela, went to the pumpkin farm and the dahlia farm. What a great time we had.

Thinking of Julie Today

I have been thinking of Julie all day today. I was quilting and she always loved my quilts. I got to bring two of them home and have hung them in my home. On my walls in the quilting room are the cards, calendars, and gifts that Julie has sent me over the years. I remembered shopping with Julie a few times at the gift shop at Tillamook Dairies. We always enjoyed the ice cream, but loved the gift shop even more. She and I both loved the the pretty little gifts they had there and well, the cheese too!

On the way to Tillamook from Oregon City is a big barn that has a quilt painted on the side. We stopped there once and inside they had the most interesting exhibits on quilting and weaving. We loved to go to antique stores and hunt out the old linens. What wonderful memories!

Last October she took us to Sister's OR. It is a town known for quilting and it's little shops geared towards quilters and crafters! We had a wonderful day and it was so beautiful in October with the leaves turning and the fall colors. I remember that each time we went to OR for a visit, we found a quilt store or fabric shop, Julie was thoughtful that way. Course we always tried to go to a store she liked too....that wasn't too hard to do!

I think Julie is in heaven right now smiling when we think of her. Her smile was contagious! I hope she is enjoying ice cream because she had the biggest smile when ice cream and shopping were involved.

Julie's Parents thoughts this week

This week we celebrated Julie's birthday. We missed being able to talk to her that day and wished we could hear her voice. We could always tell how she felt by her voice. We thought of her often that day and thought about past birthdays. We celebrated by thanking God for taking her to her Eternal Home free of the pain and suffering she had endured too long. It is such a comfort that she is at peace and no longer will need to endure the troubles and worries of this world.

We love you Julie

Poem that Rhonda read at the funeral

Joined with Thee

My sister died this morning,
Oh, how I long to see
Her gay and glorious spirit
As it is joined with Thee.

Is it possible I'm sobbing,
Yet oh so glad inside?
Is it possible I'm joyful
When the one I loved has died?

I see the heavens opened,
And there's laughter all around.
Oh, how could I be selfish
And regret the joy she's found?

My dear Lord, I do thank you
For letting me be near
This strong and mighty Christian
Who was so very dear.
